Comic Evolution was founded by Chuck Messinger, a life long comic book fan.  Chuck began collecting in 1983 at the age of 10 and spent his teen years collecting backwards instead of forwards like most kids.   By 1992, Chuck had complete runs of many popular comics dating back to 1963. 

At the age of 8, Chuck's daughter asked him why he spent so much money on "funny books".  He told her that this collection would someday pay for her college.  It was at this time that Comic Evolution was first envisioned. 

8 years later after a 15 year career in Business Management he was able to bring to life his lifelong dream.  He left his lucrative career to ventured into uncharted territory and opened Comic Evolution on October 9th, 2007.

The concept of Comic Evolution was a well thought out and mapped process.  The goal was to create a store unlike any comic book store he had ever been to.  One with style, organization, and artistic flair.  The end result is what you see today. 

Whether a collector or a casual reader, each customer knows their product has been well cared for.  All comics (with the exception of current week releases) are bagged and boarded and protected from the environment.  No comic is sold that has been exposed to the elements for more than 10 days in the store.   

The store is very organized; even those new to the industry can come into the store and know where to look for products.  The new release section is alphabetized and categorized by publisher.  The archive bins and graphic novels are all alphabetized and restocked weekly to ensure new product for recurring customers.  All games, statues and action figures are located in the same area and organized by genre. 

The comic prices are such that any collector can walk away with their purchase knowing they made an investment in something which already has more value than they paid.  Games and action figures are all priced competitively with major retailers. 

To add to the atmosphere, there is a constantly rotating collection of music played in the store.  Many customers comment that the music selection is so diverse that they often leave the store and head to their local music store in search of music they would never have thought to purchase before coming here. 

And to top it all off, there is a seating area in the front of the store.  Comic Evolution provides a number of beverages and snacks for the reader that wants to sit down in a comfortable environment and absorb their weekly investment.
